I recently had a customer bring in this roll of nickels at the bank I work at. I bought it out of my drawer and now would like advice as to what to do with it. Just keep it rolled and save it? Break it open and look for nice examples? Sell it on ebay? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I typically just collect individual coins, so I don't have a whole lot of experience with mint rolls.

I would keep them in the roll. They are not rare and any added value would come from the mint wraps. I believe the ones currently on ebay are only going for $4.

Nice keepsake and who knows into the future ?

Not a huge premium, perhaps $4 or so. So breaking it open won't decrease the value too much.

Does it have a special US Mint wrapper or a normal paper/shrinkwrap wrapper like any other roll of nickels?

Example of the US Mint wrapper:

Found this picture on google of that the wrapper looks like, too lazy to upload a pic. Not the Buffalo one I have, obviously, but exact same wrapper otherwise.

Yes, that is not a mint wrap. That is a third party wrap which makes it worth even less than a mint wrapper

Oh well. Will always be worth the 2 bucks I paid for it at least!

Still probably has some nice coins locked up in there.
You could break it open and enjoy. You probably wouldn't
pay for your time trying to conserve and sell off the
really nice ones. Probably better just to leave it rolled
and know that you protected it for some future generation
to enjoy. Just a thought.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

I just picked up the 6 coin, P/D/S set at the local flea market for 2 dollars US with COA.

I will have to keep a look out for the rolls now.
