PL-64 it really does look like a Proof to me!!

If it is not a PL then it would make a MS-63 or 64

Thanks!

How would one distinguish a proof from a mint-state coin?

Bought for $15 BTW. :D

$15 is great! Trend is $35ish silver is a little under that... but a couple of years ago that would have been the minimum value just talking intrinsically! so nice pickup again!

Usually the rims are much more square and cleaner looking. I often see the fields with a chemical reaction spotting (milk spots) from the plastic containing package. There is also a more obvious way to distinguish PL through the Cameo on the queen or the reverse details.

PL-60, the coin appears as if it was thrown in a junk box with other coins. If this were a circulation strike I would give it a 63 but seeing as it was a special strike and kept under strict precautions by the mint to keep it gem quality I wouldnt budge on the 60 grade.

I agree that it is a PL grade dollar but also agree with the dollarman
as to it being around PL60. Just too many small marks to be graded higher. A PL coin should have a near perfect field as it is not meant for circulation.
Probably worth about $25.00. Still a good buy though.

Definitely a PL and I don't see any trace of this being in a junk bin. The 'foggy' looking fields are common on PL sets of 1960's, I'm with VancKid, pics look closer to a PL64 than a PL60.
