Hi all, I won an auction last month but the coins were never received. I e-mailed the seller and she said she sent me a refund through pay pal. As I have never had this happen before, how do I find out if the money got back into my account. Just call the bank?. The thing is, now she wants my e-mail address to confirm. Is this necessary Should I give it to her?.

Thanks sleaklight, No joy at paypal yet. She wants me to give her my e-mail address to confirm if she sent it to the right place. Should I give it to her?. I don't want her to fill it with junk, ya know?.

I'm guessing she needs your paypal registered email address to send a refund payment back? just like you need hers to pay in the first place.

Waddya mean?. I don't need her e-mail address to send her money. I sent it to paypal, paypal sends it to her. As a matter of fact, I don't know the e-mail address to anybody I've sent money too through paypal.

If you signed up on pay pal using your email address that is the address needed to send you money ,,
Im not sure why the seller is having difficulty refunding though ,,it is a simple task to do that .unless the funds have already been moved to a bank account in which case the seller will need your pay pal info to send money to you .

then odds is you never paid her. ONce you add funds to your paypalaccount, you have to go to the ebay auction and click send payment and it sends the payment to her after you log into your paypal account and approve the payment to be sent. If you did not do this, then odds is you never sent payment for the coins nd that is the reason you never received them. Your funds are probbaly still sitting in paypal waiting to be used. Check in the ebay auction to see if it is marked as paid. Else just give her the email address you use to log into paypal and that way the seller can see if indeed a refund was issued. Don't give out your password though.

I guess it's now up to you if you want your refund, if not you might end up with nothing for your $20. If you are worried about someone spamming your email address I wouldnt buy online because with every purchase your email address is available for the seller to see. I guess why she wants your email address though would be to make sure your normal email address is the same as your paypal funds email address. I know my standard everyday email address is different to the one I use to receive or send paypal payments. The reason why you dont put in an email address to pay is if you use the pay now button via ebay then ebay automatically fills it in for you with the details supplied by the seller. If you went direct into paypal to send a payment you would need to know the sellers email address to send a payment.

Acidic1,
Your email address you provided when you signed up for paypal is your "paypal account number". It is the central account reference for all others, i.e., linked to your checking account, credit card, etc. Paypal acts as your trusted agent so others don't have access to your bank or credit card accounts. That said, the seller should be able to link your paypal account for a refund through the completed auction, but may not know which one it is due to sheer volume of sales. They may be asking for your email to expedite. To verify your paypal acct number, log in to paypal and check. When I set up my paypal, I used a variant of my email for my paypal account (xxxxx@home.com) rather than the actual email address. This was the paypal recommendation back in 2000 when I signed up and it's worked fine since.

I don't believe she needs you email address to issue a refund. I got a refund the other day and don't remember giving the person my email address.

Less than 60 days, all she has to do is go to her PayPal account and click on the payment details. At the bottom is a Refund Payment link, she clicks that to process the refund. After 60 days, she does need your email address or you won't get your money. quote: I even got positive feedback from her so I know she got the money.
Doesn't have to mean she got paid. They're totally unrelated. She could've left feedback by accident without being paid. quote: Waddya mean?. I don't need her e-mail address to send her money.
Because ebay knows it and fills it in for you when you click "pay now". Fact is PP does need either a email addy or phone number to send money.

Thanks to all, I,ve gone ahead and given her my email address, interesting fact, she only sent back HALF the money. I think this is telling as to what kind of person I was dealing with.
