Don't things like this just make your blood boil?

http://cgi.ebay.com/1955-D-SGS-GRAD...NT_W0QQitemZ300151326138QQihZ020QQcategoryZ39457QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And as a cherry on top the seller states, "This coin has a market value of $5,000 to $5,500 in MS67. (Sources include RedBook, Greysheet, Coin Values) But this coin is MS70, just think how much this coin is worth!!"

If it wasn't for fear of them sabotaging my auctions, I'd PM guys like this and tell how much I think they're pond scum.

atleast I learned something from the auction I didn't know. From the auction: This "Lincoln" type cent was the first cent to have the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST." Since I don't collect cents I never really paid any attention to this. As far as the auction goes maybe people are actually getting the picture about SGS because I don't guess 7.00 is that bad of a price for a nice MS 1955-D Lincoln Cent even though its not a MS-70

Here's some trivia for you. Without looking it up, can you name the first US COIN to have the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST"?
Rest in Peace

SGS is out the door. "Junk Grading Company" should be their revised name. "We are UnderAchievers" their motto. If anybody were to buy an SGS graded coin their definitely not up to par on their Numismatic Understanding.

Well, I do not agree with that statement. It should read like this....

quote:
If anybody were to buy an SGS graded coin paying for the grade on the slab without studying the coin, their definitely not up to par on their Numismatic Understanding.

Studying the coin paying the price for the actual grade would be great numismatic understanding.

I have to agree with Bobby one hundred percent. You have to do your own due diligence. I don't like these companies but what they are doing is not illegal. I think that their deception hurts the hobby but it also may serve as a warning to some. I would put myself up as an example. I have way overpaid for a coin when I thought I was getting a good deal. After that, I really looked at what I was doing and am a better numismatist for it. I don't like these companies and would never buy from one of them but as the say "Buyer Beware."

Well, actually it should read like this:

If anybody were to buy an SGS graded coin paying for the grade on the slab without studying the coin, they're definitely not up to par on their Numismatic Understanding.

(Just a joke. My wife hates it when I correct her spelling!)
