Just looks like PMD, (post mint damage), to me.

I'm sure someone who knows more will be along shortly to let you know more.

to CCF. It does look like PMD.Environmental damage. Maybe a metal detector find?

Possibly a metal detector find... but IMHO I think you would find more damage...

Copper plating was compromised,Scraped worn off etc exposing the zinc core to air & moisture resulting in corrosion.better known as zinc rot.spendable
