Why on earth are there Canadian collectors that believe what centsles put on his garage-certified coins? Here are 2-3 more people bidding on words instead of coins.

I don't know Canadian coins.
Is the coin legit but overgraded or cleaned?

Remember, it is Centsles....
question here: is this purposely misleading? it would fall under false advertising and hence, under the criminal code.
am I wrong? or at least some commercial laws would apply.
they do this all the time.
Now, if we could find way of educating everybody... especially the inexperienced....
Maybe, just maybe all our coin clubs would be a start...
most have Journals...
have been thinking for while to write something in our Journal.. but the politics...

All I try to do is to show newbies and the inexperienced where ebay auctions are misleading or that certain vendors tiptoe along the bittter edge of the law. I agree: I know it's centsles, but I'm sure that there are folks out there who don't know who he is or what he does (overgrade and mislabel items). Now he, with his garage TPG cert labels, certainly knows better because he has handled thousands of Canadian Large Cents so I think he knows excatly what he's doing.

centsles is likely a huge revenue generator for ebay doubt they will ever do anything to him since it would affect their bottom line

Oakie, you are totally right!
what can we do? a few years back I had a chat with an assistant GA in Florida. they know all about them. the unfortunate part is, it is not against the law what they do. as long as grading is not normed anyone can offer their opinion for money.
and YES they know exactly what they do!
how can we proof that the person who wrote the centsles auction did this on purpose? If we could proof it we would be far ahead.
it is the same as with, ASYN and I believe SGC. But I think they are out of business ( I believe the secret service and the IRS shut them down)?
NOW, change the subject for a second , but much related:
WHERE does everyone think, are they getting their never ending supply of coins from?

He could also buy them from other dealers... some US dealers don't even want to touch Canadian coins...

all of these autions have a section that says ask a question. if you ask, does it automatically get published, or does the seller get to ok it or not?

i was thinking something along the lines of" dont you feel bad that you are duping people? this is not a small date"

I send at least an email per week to ebay sellers telling them that they are misrepresenting their wares. It usually ends with them ending the auction, but some just block me from bidding on their stuff.

wazzappenning - the question and answer do not automatically get published. The seller has the option to add.
