1952 United Airlines Ad Showing 1941 Peace Dollar

I though this was cool. A 1941 Peace dollar was drawn in reference to their 1941 fares.

I altered the image to include a Morgan dollar. I just had to.

It does look a bit odd with a 1941 date. They did have a point though "An old fashioned dollar" updated to 1941 to compare with their new rates. Notice how the airplane conveniently covered the date area on the Morgan dollar? I am guessing the ad with the Peace dollar appeared first and was revised with the Morgan dollar because someone said something about an impossible date on the Peace dollar.

Did they strike Morgan dollars in 1941?

Errrr... In his original post, Darth Morgan said he altered the ad himself to include a Morgan dollar. He just did such a good job, you thought it was a real ad...

I did not see that line between the ads. I need to learn how to read between the pictures.

Flying was expensive back then! In 2015 dollars it would be about $2,500 to fly cross country.

But the experience was worth it. You didn't need a shoehorn to get into your seat back then and drinks were complementary.
