My latest edition of The Canadian Numismatic Journal arrived by mail today - the first for the year and the first in the new larger-size format. When I saw the envelope, which wasn't sealed, my first thought was that I wouldn't like it. After flipping through it, it's really good quality. It's more like a magazine than the traditional "journal," but I'm not hating it ... yet. I'll see how I feel after taking some time to go over it a bit more.
I'd love to hear others' thoughts.

I too was curious to see if I would like it, and I do. Too bad there will be fewer issues.

I thought that the new format was great and I remarked on it on another site when I got mine Monday. It's very professional looking and it appears to have less RCM advertising.

I liked that the font tended to be significantly larger. I found it much easier to read on the train.

As a columnist, I like the larger page size - which means larger photographs can be published.

I picked up a copy at the Torex show. I like how the pictures are larger, but this means I'll have to lay it down flat on my shelf like my Krause.
I tried reading it on the TTC on my way back - I got a headache. Looks like I'm not one of those who can read on trains.

Try reading notes or a map, while sitting in the rear-facing seat of a Bell 206 Long Ranger helicopter... I can do it, but almost every student who has ever worked for me has the helicopter living up to its nickname "The Barf Ranger"....

I've never been on a helicopter before but I have no problems reading on a plane, even in turbulence.
I suspect it's got something to do with the glasses I was wearing that day though. I can't read the text on CCF if I move just 1m away from my screen with my old glasses, while my new glasses has a strong correction for astigmatism. I don't like it - things get distorted if I don't look out of the centre of the glass and I can't look at a screen for more than a few minutes before my eye starts to strain. I was wearing the new one that day (I only wear it to class to see what the lecturer is doing up there), while I've always worn the old one when reading and doing everything else.
