Reverse looks a bit weird to me. Can you see any zinc showing? I can't tell from seller's pics.

yes the entire side is zinc. it looks like a break or shear. not like a usual clip or even ragged clip for that matter. you know when you break a piece of chocolate... it looks like that but gray.

If zinc is showing it's fake. The zinc blank is punched out, plated with copper, then struck. So is it's real the clip has to be plated too.

The same thing with the steel ones. Punched out, plated, then struck. If they were punched out of a plated strip, the edges will start to corrode (like the 1943 steel Lincoln cents, which are rather infamous for their rusting problem).

That makes two of us, maybe return this one until you can be sure of one that you can prove is legit. Take some of your own pictures before you return it for reference.

Slurexe97 makes some good points too about the plating sequence.

The dovetails on the obverse rim contradict the reverse rim... are you able to take a good photo of the edge?

it's already in the package... sorry! however like I stated above, it looks like a broken piece of dry chocolate. Plus it has odd accumulations on the copper plated part of the coin. As if it looks like slag left by a plasma cutter or Oxy Fuel outfit. However obviously these tools were not the case, but just giving a metaphor!

I thought true ragged clips are more scarce and demand a slightly higher premium? I would like to see this one in hand because the pics are not convincing for a few reasons as mentioned. Put your money towards something you don't have to post here to see if its real after you purchase, you could always take a screen shot and post here for opinions without mentioning its for sale
