I have a worn IHC with the "9" and the "5" that look different to me. The lower loop of the "9" is connected and the "5" looks like it is thicker than what it should be. I was wondering from the experts if this is from a RPD or something else. Sorry for the bad pictures....it's the best I can do.

That appears to be a normal date. The 9 is weaker due to debris collecting in the recesses of the die where the 9 was impressed from the digit punch. The debris is liquid in nature, like machine oil for instance. Since metal cannot completely fill the 9 recess, it will appear weak on the minted coin.

It appears to be a 95/95
BUT
there are so many of that variety and yours shows too much wear to easily identify WHICH variety.

Thanks for the thoughts but I'm still not sure what to make of this. I was thinking the "9" is the result of a die chip causing the lower loop to become connected but it looks like it could be something else. Other than the "5" looking thick I don't see much of anything else. The coin is very worn so that could be part of the problem making this hard to truly see if it is a RPD or not. I have tried looking up the different varieties for this year but I am having a hard time finding information with pictures related to my coin. Does anyone know of a website that has some good resources that may help me identify this? I know Rick Snow has a list but I can't find it and I don't want to buy a book just for this coin.

In the 2 volume book just published he writes, "There are numerous repunched dates for this year, making it a challenging date for the variety collector" (pg. 669).
