If gold is to retest 1130 low, then silver might go back to $14.

Better keep some cash for that moment.

Commercial Traders are sitting on mountains of short position against gold;

Bullion dealers are selling physical like there is no tomorrow;

I am deeply concerned.

My dollar cost average is pretty good. I inherited a lot of silver, and roll hunted. I sold most of the "junk" I had when it was still in the $30-35 range. I've bought some at $16, and keep roll hunting. That keeps my actual cost per ounce in the single digits.

Leon,

I am always interested to read your posts, but wish you would take a few minutes to explain each of the three statements you made in your last post.

Is your concern that prices will drop and physical inventories will run low?

Thanks!

That has been my observation, price drops and so does physical inventory for some reason.

MontanaCMR,

I am just worried that gold price may have a big slump ahead. More and more LCS might go out of business.

However, for one thing, I am sure there will NOT be any retail shortage.
Just look around how many of your family and friends are interested in silver, and count the number of customers when you stop by
LCS, compared to local population. There was almost no retail demand to start with.

Silver down by 60c, as expected.

Price is going even lower, in the next few weeks.

According to seasonality, gold price is usually weak in March; I am considering to pay my LCS a visit next month.

Gold is struggling above 1200, silver above 16.

I believe we will see a breakdown below those supports, very soon.

How low are we going this time? To the $8-$12 range for silver?

@realmoney,

I see $15 as an immediate target. Spot of $8-$12 is not impossible; however, the premium over spot might be much higher then.

Bullion silver is not low enough for me to buy modern junk silver yet, but trends suggest I may have to consider to buy soon.

Bullion silver for me comes in several forms, but my preferred is junk World silver coins, that may be a part of a bulk mixed purchase. That sort of silver is the most interesting for me: things lie unidentified Islamic and Indian silver, as well as small unidentified hammered and milled European silver. Get them cheap enough and you can triple their value, simply by fully identifying them.

I bought a mixed lot of 103 Islamic and Indian silver coins recently for $300; that's less than $3 per coin, total weight of the lot 425 grams, so I didn't pay too much above simple bullion value. The coins in the lot may have an average age of at least several hundred years. Full ID should be a significant challenge, and lots of fun.

For more modern coins, you need to have a reasonable idea of the weight and fineness of all individual silver coins in a mixed lot, and a small calculator in your brain to estimate the net bullion silver value.
