Just bought a roll of kookaburras for $436 off APMEX then checked ebay after (yes I know that was stupid to check it after) and saw mcm had them for $395. I've only been stacking for 3 months if your as new as I am don't make the same mistake! *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by Callt83 07/08/2015 03:57 am

That's how it goes for most everyone lol. Last May I got back into collecting again..silver was 22 a oz still I think, within 3 months I had got some nice silver and gold stacks and everything that I bought just went down in value. Your not the only one. Take this as a learning experience thought so you can be better prepared for next time.

If stacking is your thing ,then check out different sellers or dealers before you throw your money down.

The problem is that we do not have a good price comparison site here in the US. There is a good one for German dealers: gold.de It's not perfect as you cannot search for roll prices, but it gives you a very good overview.

I have had good luck with MCM on ebay. I was recently looking to purchase some 10 oz bars of silver. I looked around at provident, JM Bullion, MCM, APEX, etc and found that MCM on ebay was one of the lowest cost. I have peace of mind also knowing that they ship nicely packaged.

I have usually found APMEX to have some of the higher premiums out there. Usually you can comparable stuff for cheaper elsewhere like at Provident of JMBullion. However, I still do check APMEX from time to time because they have a huge selection and variety that can be hard to find on other sites.

I started around May of last year and was disappointed as well. Since then I've learned a lot from the experiences of others here. The day is coming when we will be glad we bought it at any price.
Thanks for the link Debrajc.

There's two other sites that list comparative prices like Debrajc linked. One breaks it down by weight or price wanted. I tried to post and email but cannot since I'm new...

I am tight as bark on yonder tree. I cruise through ebay look at what the dealers have to offer and when I find an item that is in line with my stacking strategy I open a new tab and call up that dealers website and see how that item compares in price to the one on ebay and I shop the competitors as well. You can get good deals if you look hard enough. Last good deal I got came from Silvertowne on ebay selling 10 oz. silver donkey bars for $160.39 with free shipping. That same bar on Silvertowne own website was going for $176.43 cash/check. Take your time with your bullion purchases. Use restraint when you are in the market to add to the stack. You work hard for your money try to get the most bang for the buck, when ever possible. Just my Two Cents. PS When I was new to stacking I would spend weekends throwing dollars willy nilly, paying way to much for my metal purchses. I have been in your shoes. Trust me.

I have always found APMEX to be among the highest-priced dealers for any coin, and would never use them.
