Please help staff-mods. Not too sure where to place this post. Not even sure if the post is fair-fit-appropriate for CCF Please move it or void it if not appropriate for CCF rules. Thanks. Had my 1973 US Proof Set bid cancelled by Davender. Got this email from ebay. Quote:Dear ebay Community Member, The bid that you entered for the item ( 131429279161) has been cancelled. You can view the reason provided for the cancellation by selecting the (bid history) link from the individual item page. Davenders 1973 S United States Proof Set 6 coins GEM CAMEO My bid was quite LOW, but I see no reason, and no reason was given for a cancellation of my LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACTUAL ebay BID. Any help-ideas-thoughts would be ever so helpful.

He cancelled them all to end the listing.... Quote: This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available. Quote:for a cancellation of my LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACTUAL ebay BID. The bid is not contractual until it's a winning bid.

bobby13131313 Thanks for the heads-up. I guess I am so used to seeing my bids are a legally binding contract, that I guess I also believed-thought it was equally binding for the seller (Davender) also. We all can take a lesson here. When selling on ebay, if we do not like the (last minuet) current bid, just cancel the auction, before it ends. Oh well.

I cannot guess why he ended the auction, but the seller is well known around here as a stand-up businessman and we recommend him without hesitation. I'm inclined to believe he had a plausible reason; stuff happens with a high-volume seller. There are any number of ebay sellers - Dave is one of them - who move as many coins as the very largest mail-order firms of the past. Thousands a year, individually. It's a hugely complex business for the relatively low rate of return, and a lot can go wrong. Did you ask him yourself?

Yeah, Dave must have had a good reason to cancel the auction. He was just taking care of business. I would contact him just to see what happened. Perhaps it was listed by mistake?

Thanks, Carson ~`~`~`~` DOMAIN555 For all to know, I bid on many lots, and WON several similar MINT and PROOF sets. 95% centered around 1973 IKEs For what ever the reason Davender was the only FAUX Auction. I give him the benefit of doubt here.

Reply from Dave at Davenders Quote: Dear domain555,
Our listing program ends auctions under certain conditions. It should not do that and I am trying to figure out why and get it to stop doing that.
Thank you, Dave
- davenders Well OK, I guess. I did last night bid again on one auction from Davenders. If I win, will report back to this thread.

I'm not at all surprised by that answer, Domain. ebay provides control software for high-volume sellers to manage large numbers of listings. It's pretty complex and powerful code, but that comes with the tradeoff of unintended consequences sometimes. I find it plausible. Did he address the specific item you wanted? You're showing a good example for the Community with how you're handling this issue, Domain555. Thank you.

I am not too sure if Davenders knows what I bid on. The quote above is all there was to it. In the last 24-36 hours, I made (about) 30 bids, all with at least 1-2 IKEs in the auction. I have won as of now, 13 IKEs. Also I am the high bidder on (about) 10 other auctions. Most of my bids are on 1973 IKEs. From the 1,000 bags I used to get, I have eleven 1973 IKEs. So, 11 + 13 = 24. Then there is a chance I will win more today. Hoping my total will be in the 30 range for year 1973. Really do not care what the MINT is, for my 1973 IKEs. Education is the key. Thank you CCFedit by domain555 I just agreed to a counter offer and bought 6 more 1973 Ikes. Will have 30 when they all come. Have bid on a few more, so may end up with more. No more bidding for me.

You're on a roll, Domain! Keep it up. I just bought 12 Ikes from Dave. They are 1973-1978 clad issues- all sealed in original mint cellophane packaging. I also picked up 2 silver Kennedy proofs for my Dansco. Now I just need the silver 2012-S and I'll be all caught up.

Searching ebay finding better offers. Sad, but one soul, was liquidating a lot of stuff, because of a need to meet a VET bill. I bid on many, and got many. Sadly he was down to having one day auctions. Had eleven 1973 IKEs from the old days when I was getting 1,000 bags. In last 48 hours have bought 22 Mint and Proof IKEs. But only 20 were 1973. All 22 have been shipped. So that is a total of thirty-one 1973 IKEs. And I have a few bids that might come through. One "MAKE OFFER" is for 7 "MINT SETS." DOMAIN555 has have crossed over thee edge.

I too had a bid cancelled from Davenders. I just went to his website and purchased the same thing but with a discount. For not using e-bay.

Sells many many tens of thousands of items on ebay. Surely he sells even more from his site, or show room(s). Respectfully, I did OK and better, making offers to private persons, who NEED to sell, rather than the prices offered from a strong Merchant.

For larger ebay sellers, always look to see if they have websites and shop there if they do. You will normally get the coin cheaper from their site than on ebay.

Like I've said before, I buy from davenders because I trust his item descriptions. I have never been disappointed. I know exactly what I'm going to get. This is worth the little extra for the coins he offers.
