Looks authentic with the nice die cracks. I would start by weighing it, and checking the diameter and thickness. A "gentle" magnet test also. A pic of the reverse would be good also. That's an awesome coin if real.

I would agree, that this is an amazing coin if real. The shield on the obverse looks a little off to me (not perfectly symmetrical). However, the reverse looks remarkably nice. I strongly suggest having a dealer see this in hand and/or get it to a grading service (PCGS, NGC, or ANACS).

The clashes and cracks look to be a match to this example on Heritage http://coins.ha.com/itm/three-cent-...-288.s#Photo the Heritage photo isn't the best.
