My wife and I had just returned from camping at Blue Mesa Reservoir (western Colorado) today, when the mail arrived.
Wow!
Being someone who thinks he has seen it all, I couldn't believe my eyes as the letter carrier started handing me packages.
Here's what arrived.
--halfabustisbetter and I decided to trade coins. He feared the package containing Canadian cents was lost. Well, it arrived -- sort of. The package had broken open, and the contents -- all those Canadian cents as well as an Australian One Cent -- had to be delivered in a plastic bag. The good news is that all coins were there!
--triggersmob sent some great coins from Australia, including a brand new $20 banknote. Coins included a "double bar" 1979 50 Cent Piece, and 10 commemorative dollars. What a wonderful package from Steve. I am so appreciative.
--gregk's package, also from Australia, was the third one handed to me. "Spectacular" is the only word I can think of to describe the coins he sent. Just to name a few of the beautiful coins his package contained: QE2 Coronation Golden Jubilee 2003 50 Cent Piece; Royal 60th Wedding Anniversary 2007 50 Cent Piece; Royal Visit 2006 50 Cent Piece; QE2 80th Birthday, 2006 50 Cent Piece; 1990 and 1995 mint sets.
--Coin order from C&C Coins which included coins to catch my Sacagawea set (with proofs) completely up-to-date, and the 2008, 2009, and 2010 Australian One Ounce Lunar coins, to bring that set up-to-date, and complete. I also purchased the same three coins for our oldest son, to complete his set.
And finally, I stopped by the regional FedEx office and inquired about my Jefferson First Spouse coins. Not only did they have them, but they had my daughter's as well. So, I picked up both boxes. Due to cost, I doubt I will ever buy another "First Spouse" coin, but these are very attractive, especially the proof.
So, that's it. Not a bad haul for one day!
I am enjoying myself tonight, placing many of the coins in their new homes.
Quite a day for mail! And FedEx!
