Dusted off the old scanner the other night
(got a haul of fake £1's I needed to document before they were handed over)

Anyway... decided to get some nice shots of other stuff...

Anybody (Looking at Tom :P) give me any info on these Charles & James I shillings ?

All that I know if how much I paid (Back in the early 90's) and the Charles Mounted one has "M M Listower M" written on the card.

Well I just looked in Spink (2004)and found likely though by no means sure attributions I see Spink type 2790 Charles I Shilling, 1639-1640, Tower Mint, London, Triangle touch mark, worth perhaps 35 Pounds back ten years ago.

Next is the half crown which has some mystery to it. The closest I found is Spink type 2771, Charles I, 1635, Tower Mint, London, perhaps: Bell over crown, oval shield with scrolls, and no special symbols in the legends, in nice shape, worth about 175 Pounds in 2004. If I am wrong there are some Provincial Mint runner's up of five times greater value, but it most likely is the more common variety.

Lastly is the James I shilling, Rose, 1605-1606, second coinage, 4th bust, Spink type 2656 of about 60 Pounds value in 2004. This coin is right for the types present in Jamestown at its inception by the Virginia Company.

Nice coins!
