Another one I am interested in purchasing, just wondering if anyone could help me out with the grade. I have posted numerous California gold coins recently and am looking for one that I should purchase.

Heres a MS-63 example:

It could very well be MS but I do see the slightest hint of wear on the highest points.

That scratch makes it a problem coin.

I'd suggest taking it slow when considering purchasing California fractional gold. There are fakes, replicas made in gold, etc.

The safest way to make sure you're buying an authentic piece is to buy one already certified by PCGS or NGC from a reputable dealer.

MeadowviewCollector, thank you for the advice. I will take it slow, I haven't actually purchased any of these posted coins yet.

Should I try to zoom in on the die crack/scratch for closer inspection?
