Is the seller just "fishing" or is there something that legitimately makes this coin worth something close to what he's asking for it?

Title says half but it is a dollar.

1846-O dollar is a common date as far as I know.

Numismedia says $300 retail for an 1846-O $1. It's just in the wrong ebay category.
