I would, if for no other reason than to determine it's authenticity.

This is an issue you don't buy raw unless you trust your ability to judge them yourself. From images, if you're looking online. Plenty of worthy raw coins still exist but the percentage of gems among the dogs is pretty low.

No, this coin is in my collection... I own it. I've taken it to the LCS guy I trust the most (out of the 6 or so coin shops in my area, I trust 2, and this is one I trust the most) He said there's no point, it won't increase it's value. So, was curious is all from other opinions.

And I do not buy off the internet, in coins like this... I will NEVER buy a numismatic or really much of anything ther than supplies I need for jewelry making off the net. There are far too many scammers out there, I bought this coin from a local shop here, maybe 2 or 3 years ago. I bought it, because I wanted a key date, CC in my budget. Now I have the ability to go through my coin shop guy to having it sent off for whatever the cost is....? $40 or someting.

Then your only concern about slabbing is whether that's the form you'd prefer to present your heirs. No need, for yourself.

Quote: What's that going on with the eagle on the reverse? I see a coin shot in a holder with two small cracks in just the right spot. Those cracks are accompanied by shadows, and the end result looks like nothing I've ever seen on a Morgan. So I figured out what it was and tuned it out.

Yes sir! It's in a plastic case with a few scratches on the case, not the coin... I shouldn't even be typing right now, I couldn't get the coin out of the case, both my hands from the elbow down are numb and tingling. I'm 33, medically retired from bad back, and now this. So... that' why it's still in the case for the pic. Sorry bout that.
