I have an ebay notification for "Doily" trying to find a decent PCGS doily holder. I receive several items each day, and one that is bugging the heck out of me is "rare like doily", usually the green labels. Another is the retro doily holders, primarily ASE silver. Rant off.

I have an ebay notification for "Henning nickel" and the stuff that it returns is sometimes comical. :-)

@ oih82w8

You can also enter words to exclude. So for example this:

pcgs doily -like -retro

Would return anything with the words pcgs and doily in the title but if it had the words like or retro they would be skipped.

I have a search for Libertad, Mexican Libertad, Onza ........
All kinds of unrelated stuff comes to my notices, but I am always afraid that if I refine my search, I am going to miss a mislabeled bargain.
Like someone selling a key date Labertad for cheap that's labeled " one ounce Mexican coin for sale "

So I always keep a broad search.

Yeah, ebay searches are nearly useless. I set one up to search for my grading set and it drops NGC from the search - thus returning ALL 3cs... gack.

I beg to differ. I don't think I've ever seen an eCommerce search more powerful. Even since they took the wildcard away.

Have to agree with bobby on this one. There's a bit of a learning curve to it but you can create some very advanced searches once you get the hang of it.

Amazon throws things in completely ignoring what you searched... that they *hope* you'll like.

I know that, it's when you save it as a search that it loses all the refinements....

You don't need to save it as a search, just bookmark it with your browser.

(although I just saved bobby's search above using ebay's follow option and it kept all the refinements for me ).

If you create one on ebay using their filter settings, that's what doesn't keep. They have check boxes for certification company for example.

Don't ever use those. You'll get more results my way (and it works better) because a lot of sellers don't check off those boxes when they list.
