Hey all,

I recently purchased a roll of 20 1965 dollars at a garage sale. All the dollars in the roll are in similar condition. I'm assuming that they fall under the MS60-65 grade range I don't really know how to grade between MS60-65. Also are these really medium beads with a pointed five?

Grade the wear not the tone, the tone is not appealing, but I think the coin would be mid MS.

Everyone has a habit of looking at 'tone' and lowering their grade but this coin looks MS-63/4 to me.

Thank you all for your responses.

I think the bad toning was some-what exaggerated by the scanner because to the human eye the coin appears quite lustrous all around. A good number of these 1965 dollars have that dull, milky, toning to them because I think they may have been smudged by fat fingers many years ago.

As for the grade, how did you guys make your judgement ms 62-64? Is that gap between ms60-65 determined by the number of nicks and gouges on the surface if toning is not considered?
