Hi I'm new to coin collecting and only have a few coins. One of them is a very small spiel munze coin from 1887. It's a uk coin. Does anybody know what this is and what they are worth Iv searched on the web but can't find out much about it.
Thanks.
I will put some pictures up soon.

Spiel is play.
Sounds like a lauer play coin manufactured in Germany.

Your coin might copy or be based on a British coin design, but with "Spiel munze" on it, it'll have been made in Germany prior to WWI. "Spiel munze" is German for "play money".

There are collectors of these "toy coins" out there, but they're not as easy to find as coin collectors. There also hasn't been an updated catalogue printed since the 1990s, so giving a "book value" is difficult. All you can do is try to find some similar pieces that actually sold on ebay etc, to see what people are paying.

These tiny little play money coins often were used as doll money and were put in doll's purses. I have seen them with German designs as well as French and fantasy designs.
