i was wondering how old is the american dollar bill? I was thinking that becouse I dont think ive ever seen an american dollar coin before even though ide assume they used dolar coins early on.

The first bills were issued April 25, 1812. However they were very short lived. American banks began again in the 1840's. The U.S. government got back into the act in the 1860's. This began the "green backs". They failed again.
Once currency began to be backed by gold and silver it flourished.
