What resource do you use to price your American Silver Eagles? I'm collecting PCGS PR70 ASE's and until recently, I used Numismedia to get an idea of the market value. I was amazed at the tremendous difference in prices when I (thankfully) found the Coin Week site after one of our CCF members posted a link. The Coin Week site prices were well within the range of sales at ebay, so I'm assuming they reflect 'market value' much better.

Anyone using any other sources to price your ASE's?

Present sales are the best indication of current value...so if CW is right around that then you have your source....

Prices change so quickly, I typically run a report for the last 30 days on completed transactions via ebay & divide by the number of total completed items.

If there are very few (1-2) or no items within that time frame, it's a safe bet the value has increased since the last posted completed transaction.

I was surprised how quickly the prices change and also how the number of coins graded changes for newer minted coins. Numismedia shows the monthly fluctuations, but the numbers are still much higher than Coin Week and information takes some drilling.

A big advantage of the Coin Week site is that they show a monthly change in the number of coins graded by PCGS and NGC in the PR/PF 69 and PR/PF 70 proof grades and the MS69/MS70 grades for Unc's. The information is easy to find.
