On Saturday, I went to the Long Beach coin convention and I ran accross some 1914D Lincoln.

The dealer has one in VG for $290, F for $350, and VF for $390. I took a look at the VF and the coin was nice, EXCEPT: on Lincoln's jacket, there are some corrosion (cobalt-blue color like the copper was in contact with substances).... I didn't have my magnifier with me at that time so I am not sure if those are minor spot corrosion or actually those are holes on the surface and it will prevent the coin from being slab-grade.

Anyway, I pointed to him and lowered the price to $350 (which is the price for F grade). He was closing down and ready to pack his stuffs. I was very tempting to buy it or at least make him an offer but at the end, I decided not to.....

Ever since then, I kept on thinking about that coin and those prices. WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF YOU WAS IN THE SAME SITUATION?.......

I need to free myself from that coin.....

Thanks all for your comments.

I agree with Halfabust.

In this case your better off without a corroded 14-D in your collection.

Considering a little over 1 million made, considered a key coin in the collection, they are not that uncommon. As noted don't worry about not buying that one. If you go to coin shows, you will see many more in various grades. To late now anyway.

HAHAHAHAHA....I don't feel so alone anymore. LOL The last show I was at a guy had a STUNNING 1920S MS63 Lincoln, I wanted it SOoooooOOoooo bad, but never bought it. I've been losing sleep over it for 2 weeks now cause it was only $70 and the toning on it was just amazing. Look, I'm still crying over it!

LOL Metalman! Yea, yea....thing is, I just handed over $500 over to this dealer for coins I really needed to upgrade my Lincolns. I had no money left without going to an ATM and the show was ending. My 20S is F15, I wanted badly to take those G coins out so the choice was; keep a G4 and go for it or purge a G4 and stick to my plan. The plan won! At least I don't have a single G4 in my Lincoln collection now. :)

Another G4 replacement. The pics are quick and dirty, this coin is AMAZING in hand. It has a bluish toning when tilted:
