Mexican Diez Pesos - Doubled Die Obverse / DDO ?

Sleaklight Pillar of the Community United States 827 Posts	Posted 10/03/2007 12:00 pm I was clearing out a drawer and foound this. I first took picture due to the design but seeing the picture I noticed that the text is doubled. There is double to the right od DIEZ and to the top of PESOS and there is also doubling evident on top of $10 I am wondering if this is Machine Doubling or a true double die? I luckily got some nice clear pictures. Let me know what you think, also the pitting on the back, do you think it is post mint made or somethign else going on there? Thanks! swamperbob Pillar of the Community United States 5362 Posts	Posted 10/03/2007 10:58 pm The doubled die varieties would have a split at the lower corner of the D. There would be two distinct corners. A Strike double (or machine double) does not have the split because the die moved during thr strike and effectively "smeared" the impression. Image Insert: Report this Post to the Staff
