Mint mark is in the wrong place and 9 and 5 are filled. Is this a common error?

The question should be, Whats the right place? Actually the MM can be any where in that general area since they were hand punched by hand.I've found MM's from the same year all over the place. Die chips are pretty common especially in the 50"s

Not an error at all ... common mint issues from that date until 1990 when the mint mark was placed on the master die.

Worth 1 cent.

the die chips - are actually mint errors. however - there were so many in the 50's that they are common and minor, and of no real value added premium.

having said that - I personally find them interesting - and I keep most that I find in a small plastic coffee container. no real expense in keeping them and I consider them fun/interesting.

I keep them too. If you only paid a cent for them, why not?

Unless they are extreme, I don't save them. The extreme ones I put into a coin tube for these. (I have 11 tubes for special items in case I need a quick image if I don't have one.)
