I know there was a lot talk about it and it seems they are doing it. I just got a notification in the mail.

Provident is offering free shipping on orders of 99 bux and over.

I'm sure "NewsBoy" will be around to post it as well.

Unless he already has and I missed it.

Online dealers are offering free-shipping one after another:

First comes JM Bullion; then is APMEX, now is Provident's turn.

What's going on?

Reason is very simple. Retail demand for physical is collapsing nationwide. Online dealers start to fight each other for small orders now.

What's next?

Commercial traders are sitting on mountains of short position against gold-----------
Dealers are desperately trying to reduce their inventory------------

Conclusion?

Gold->1100, Silver->14.

@fistfulladirt,

FYI, Gainesville made announcement today that they will accept personal check as payment, from now on.

Dealers are fighting tooth and nail now. Hold your cash for lower price ahead.

Leon ask: What's going on?

That would be what I call competition!

Does the physical demand really drive the spot prices? I believe the 'paper' market is much larger and trades at such a higher volume. Wouldn't it make since for that 'paper' market (if you can separate them out like that) to be the main driver of spot prices?

Is the $99 free shipping deal permanent?
