I was at the LCS last week looking for a SL half-dime and I came across this one.It was in the cheap coin albums out front. It looked scratch from cleaning, but,it was about the best one there for the price. And I wanted a SL half-dime,so I figured what the heck.So I bought it.
I get it home and look at it under magnification. And what do I see?Another coin with errors.
How does a trench that big end up in the middle of a coin? There is also a die crack under the 'DI'in dime. And a 'ledge' going across 'MER' in America. I guess I need to start an error collection.
The coin was struck on a defective laminated planchet after the laminated metal came off.
I could recommend somewhere else you might post pictures of this coin to have a real Half Dime expert look at it but the link would probably be deleted by the admin of this forum.
