Historical question:
Years age, when all a collector had to rely upon were word descriptions,
the terms 'porous' and 'granular' were included in a coin's description.
1) Are they synonymous?
2) Are they still valid or have the meanings changed?

Back then no mention that I can recall referred to a coin as having been 'dug.'
Perhaps 'pre-electronic-devices.'
