I cant believe you found one of those, its definitely a keeper and worth a considerable amount of money which I hope another member will fill us in on. actually you know what there's one on ebay for 4 bucks. I wish they had a jealous smilie.

It's a commemorative medal issued by Canada Post, not a coin.

It came in a set like SlurExe97 said, included 3 stamps and some other paper stuff in a metal box, think the set sold for around $20 originally. I got a couple of them for Christmas that year. Here's an ebay listing of the complete set. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Canada-Post-...4384a&_uhb=1

They gave these sets out to all the kids when I was in elementary school. Since the medal is the same size as a quarter some kids ended up just taking it out and spending it. I have also found one in circulation but kept the original set I was given with the stamps also.

I also found one in circulation a few years ago. when I found it I realized right away it wasn't a quarter as it has no denomination on it.

I have seen 5 or 6 go in estate sales around here, as said metal box about 5x5 1/2 thick with info and stamps with coin in the bottom. At the auction $3 to $15, value $5 or what buyer is willing to pay.

I have found about 5 of these "coins" during roll hunting.
