I have two 53 nickles MS 66 grades/ Canadian and notice on one of them where Queens shoulder is there appears to be an extra layer of metal similar to a patch job - just wondering if this was due to a weak strike or tired dies at the time|?

Mystery solved. I took my coin to LCS and they said it was a planchet flaw.

ooops forgot to mention it looks a die crack on the other one so, a planchet and die crack it is...
