I have this really cool looking coin that I wish to free from it's wacky key ring type holder that looks like it was soldered to the actual coin. I was wondering what is the best way to liberate my coin from this holder? Check out the pictures below, would taking pliers to it damage it a lot? The

Sleaklight - mI would leave the coin in place.

There is no way to "liberate" the coin from the holder without damage if the ring is soldered in place. It is very likely the solder has already damaged to coin.

So, my question is why not just use the item for a charm or key ring as it was intended? As a coin - the 1983 50 Peso in VF or so is a comparitively inexpensive coin. The fact that it is in a ring and can be used likely increases the actual value.

Is the color in the scan accurate? If so the coin may have been plated. This is a copper nickel coin and should be a white color not a gold or brass color.

nooo the color is silver white. I can't use it as a keychain ornamment cuz the chain broke off(real cheap quality), I could buy a new thing to attach to it maybe. Thanks swamperbob, any chance you know where I can get another coin of thes eout of any type of holder for cheap? I have not found any at reasonable prices.

I don't know where you are from but around here (North Carolina)- the 50 Peso coins are quite common in dealer junk boxes or in Pawn shops. These coins are no longer legal tender so they get sold for little or nothing. I have seen many in my hunting so I suspect you should be able to find one for less than a dollar.
