Well, here's an interesting quarter I found in my till... I tend to think it's just unusual damage, rather than a minting error, but I thought I'd get the communities opinion.

I'm not really talking about the crescent bisecting Washingtons nose, I'm pretty sure that was caused at a later time, by the matching spot on the reverse of the quarter.

But rather, the odd, warn appearance. The scanner I used seems capable of picking up much more than the naked eye... as I can't even see the "Y" on the end of Liberty in-hand. And the entire boarder is almost perfectly flat... it feels like some of my old Barber quarters... almost as if it has been worn smooth over 80 years... but it's only 27 years old...

So, I'm wondering, is this just a normal quarter that deteriorated at an exceptional rate? Or, is it perhaps the work of a weak striking? Or, something else entirely?

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought...

Oh, I forgot to mention... on either side of Washington's head, the large fields actually stick out as far as the face does... actually... all the worn areas seem to be as high as the face.

But then, the face could easily just be worn down enough to be level with the field as well...
