Pete2226 Pillar of the Community United States 3331 Posts	Posted 03/05/2015 09:28 am I can see very easily how a die chip shows up in the center of a number or mint mark - the "post" breaks off, so the area is filled. The majority of this chip is on the nine itself which means a deeper part of the die would have some kind of scrape. Am I correct? And then there is the "tail" into the center of the 9. I am just having difficulty envisioning how that happens? Report this Post to the Staff
SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 03/05/2015 11:52 am Keep in mind these are just random chunks breaking off the die, and local weakness in the die metal is as much a culprit as the extra pressure of the strike around devices. So a little weirdness in shape isn't out of the question. Report this Post to the Staff
