Time spent CRH'ing will not be deducted from one persons life.

It looks like the point is that the time coin roll hunters have spent hunting rolls is not replaceable and I honestly couldn't care less. I LOVE coin roll hunting and it is pleasing to me and if I'mable to take old coins out of circulation before they get melted or miss treated by someone then I am always happy to.

What if we're heavily drinking alcohol and smoking unfiltered camels while looking through coin rolls? ;-)

apparently 1 alcoholic beverage per day increases your life span by 30 minutes per day and for every second one you drink your leveling it out so it would be like you never drank at all and if you have a 3rd alcoholic beverage your actually decreasing your life by 30 minutes. I don't like any alcoholic anything and I don't like smoking because it takes my time to collect coins away... and there toxic and yet everyone litters them everywhere.

Actually, it depends on what you would be doing with that time and how you value time. Some might argue the time better spent serving the underprivileged. Others can effectively argue time would be better spend working at a fast food joint.
Like many on this forum, CRHing/collecting was a fun way to relax after work. Of course, I enjoy the fact that my hobby was making a little money rather than bleeding me dry. Initially, it was family time because my daughter enjoyed it and even my wife was more than happy to partake when I had a dream/monster half dollar box. Then I became a bit obsessive and started searching more coins than I care to admit. Halves, Cents, Nickels, Dimes daily. Started using the "I could be at a bar" excuse to my wife. I don't CRH much any more but I enjoy reading about everyone's finds. Now I'm immersed in my kids sports. Coaching and running from practice to game every night.

Pretty much the same excuse I use now. "I could be at a bar" or "I could be a smoker". I am a bit on the obsessive side of the hobby well at least I think I am.

I limit myself to one box of nickels a week. Though my bank can't provide me with more then one box a week anyways so it's self limiting.

If you do I would suggest you STOP NOW. The reason I say this is because I did the same thing as suggested until last Oct 28th. I am 47 years old. I had a Major MI, (Heart Attack), and had to be shocked back 3 times! From what the Doctors told me Only 8-18% of people Survive this. Most DIE! It's Not like you see in the Movies! (I have not read the numbers for myself yet but I will take the Pro's words for what they are.) Just don't do it! If you do, STOP NOW! Remember, I am JUST 47! BUT, Don't Stop The Hunt! That is all! Good Hunting!

I could not agree more, in fact I came to the same exact conclusion myself. You must be a logical one :-)
I agree that CRH is only worth it if you do it during time that you would otherwise waste/kill. I should not turn down an overtime shift instead of coin hunting. But I have no problems skipping 2 hours of mindless tv watching to CRH. Especially in winter, what else is there to do anyway? I have free time every day, CRH is a great way to spend that time. I also love jigsaw puzzles, and there is a similar peace that both provide. Relaxing. Of course CRH does get the heart rate up every now and then :-)

First rule, stop when it's not fun. If you enjoy doing it and don't waste your dump money (have a good dump strategy) the cost is only time. Yes, we could all work more hours, but when I CRH I am in "the zone" where I feel that time stands still, and all is well in the world. Now, if I was doing it for 30 hours per week, I might be a little more concerned.
Regarding the smoking, I agree totally. I was a 2 pack a day until 10 years ago (i was in my late 30s) and I read an article that showed with my 25 years of smoking, if I stopped by 40, by the time I'm50, i'll be almost as clean as if I never smoked. If I continued until my 50s, it was almost certainly irreversible. Lastly, someone said "It's not about cutting 10 or 20 years off of your life, it's the quality of life that degrades and rots your last couple decades that stinks", that was also a major wake up. I am thrilled I stopped, and couldnt imagine dropping $5 a pack on that crap today.

I do not smoke and I drink only in moderation. I admit I was a bit obsessive about CRHing for a year or so before I realized it was robbing me of quality time with my wife and kids. I make them my priority now, and only look through coins when it fits the family schedule.

Moderation in all things, and nothing in some things, like smoking.
