I'm not really a collector, just interested in oddities when I come across them.

Hi GogtogoAloog. I can't claim to be a collector -- not yet anyway. I collected common US coins when I was a boy, like a lot of kids, but I never got more involved with numismatics. Recently, my wife, my siblings, and I have inherited some coins. We will probably sell many of them, but the more I study them the more I'm thinking I'd like to keep some as well. I've learned (and continue to learn) a lot about coins through the process of preparing to sell them -- grading, photography, working with PCGS, the different types of the various denominations, etc, etc. Still, I don't feel I qualify as even a serious hobbyist. I hope to continue to learn, and this forum looks like a great resource. Who knows, I may even transition from a seller to a collector. ;-)

Hello- I want to thank you very much for this site. It is extremely valuable to have 'Coin Facts' all in one area. This place ""ROCKS"... Oh yeah- I am from Phoenix AZ where Summers are HOT HOT HOT but still better to shovel sunshine than snow. :-) Greg Hauserjavascript:insertsmilie(' ')

Hi Daniel!
Espanola huh? Nice!
I live in Western Maryland, but my wife and I have been to NM on vacation a few times. In fact, we were considering moving there. You are fortunate to live in a very beautiful part of the state.
When I was a boy, we lived in a log cabin built in 1724, which is considered old in most parts of the country. I think many people do not realize how far back the Spanish settlements in the Southwest go. 1500's, correct?

Hello I'm from Uvalde, Texas about 70 miles west of San Antonio. I am new to a lot of this but have been studying coin errors and decided I would try to find a few and I believe I've had beginners luck on two possibly new and very rare errors. One coin is a 1999 D Delaware State Quarter that has nearly been folded over but has no evidence of scratches or pinch marks where someone intentionally did this. The other is a 1984 P Liberty Quarter with a bb sized over strike on the left leg of the eagle and cracking to leading over to the coins right edge. The depth of the hole is about half the width of the quarter and the inside is clad just as the rest of the coin is. Gonna post the pictures as soon as I can downsize the files. I'm not near a computer. Can this be done on my iPhone? Can someone help me get these errors graded.
