280z New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 10/10/2007 03:19 am My friend has a 1989 quarter, its a gold color, feels lighter than a regular quarter, has a D next to the year. Anyone ever seen anything like this before, is it a fake quarter, something someone just gold plated? Please help, thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

The gold color could be toning but as you suspect its more likely to be gold plating. A lot of companies gold plate coin sets in the hope people will consider them to be more valuable. A lot of the State Quarter sets get this treatment but I have not seen it on an 89 Quarter. Report this Post to the Staff
