I have just ordered mine. I have the quarter but was unable to get the dime from the mint with the speculators purchases.

I don't have the dime and the whole set is expensive! $865 for half an ounce of gold is high. Gold is $1220 an ounce right now on spot market.

when you think of the other gold products released every year ( 1/10th 1/4 1/2 1 oz) one has to realize how special this set can really be

Actually, current mint shipping policy only adds signature required to orders over $300 (or any order containing precious metals, silver is not precious according the the mint). They no longer offer complimentary shipping upgrades. 2-3 business day service now costs $17.95 and next business day is $20.95

I stand corrected and thanks. Goes to show how long it's been since I went for a gold item or a purchase over $300. I hate the sig required thing since I feel prisoner in my home waiting for the package...and if I am on vacay (frequent) I worry what will happen after three attempts.

I try to break up my orders so they all are under $300

..but..one note: if you order a gold or Platinum item they will discount the expedited (2 day) shipping from $17.95 to $12.95 for what that's worth

I will add that I bet UPS ground is still faster that "Smart"post

When I go out of town and I expect a delivery, I usually have my mail held.

For packages: coming through USPS it gets held also. I can have FedEx and UPS hold it at a local office.

No issue with USPS at all... thus the "keep it under $300" thing. ALL mail is held or transferred to where I am vacationing.

The Mint used to be a PIA with UPS having to deliver a sig required pkg to the address on record and would not hold at a UPS location. That also might have changed...wish they would just do USPS Priority sig required which would solve the whole issue

For me (in northern CA), they use FedEx smartpost for the $4.95 shipping (under $300) so things have been taking 6 or 7 calendar days and are handed over to USPS for delivery so Saturday delivery happens automatically. For the signature required stuff they have been using UPS ground so there is no Saturday delivery. With UPS myChoice, I can normally change delivery dates and/or waive the signature but for this coin at least those features are disabled by the shipper. Aside from the increased shipping costs for upgraded shipping, things have gotten better since the mint dumped PB fulfillment. Delivery times for the $4.95 option are better and packaging is very much improved. The new fulfillment contractor (PFSweb out of Memphis) is doing a much better job and they no longer "double pump" my CC like PB often did. They would put a preliminary charge the CC, let that expire, then charge again when (or sometimes after) items shipped. I think that PB got a stipend every time they charged a CC so they would routinely charge a CC when an order was placed even if they knew that it wouldn't ship before the charge expired without confirmation. They no longer claim that your CC won't be charged until your order ships. Also, there is a typo in the description of the expedited shipping option. It says that if you select expedited shipping that you will be charged $12.95 even if you would have been eligible for the complementary from standard shipping. It should say $17.95. This means that if you could have paid only $12.95 and been upgraded for free but select expedited shipping, you will still be charged $17.95 (this used to be true for the complementary upgrade from the $4.95 to the $12.95 option). There is no longer any free upgrade from the $4.95 budget shipping option other than adding signature required on gold, platinum, and over $300 orders.
