Thanks to you all, I didn't get caught on the 'Lentulus'. I just spent 'megabucks' (for me) on this coin. (Different seller.) I hope my money is safe here. Thrace, Istros, Drachm, Eagle - Dolphin, AR15, 5.92 gm

I'm with echizento on this one. I only know enough about these Istros coins to know they were (and probably still are) widely faked and some of those fakes were good enough to fool the experts for many years; I would not buy one at all unless it was from a well-established dealer that specialized in ancients.

I'm not sure either TC, not familiar enough either. it looks ok, I don't see anything that cries fake. it's the ones that "wisper" fake instead of cry that I can't tell.

where did you buy it? This type is highly faked so I would only buy it via a well known seller.

The seller was Savoca Coins, from Germany. A long-time seller of 'ancient' coins.
(Edit: Sorry, just woken up. 6:30 am here.)

Savoca is a fairly decent trader, thumbs up from me. As others have pointed out, there are more fakes than genuine coins of this type on the market so weight and die matches are key.

Thank-you everyone who contributed, (too many to list), and yes, when I have the coin in hand I will confirm the weight and try and match the die. I have tried 'Wildwinds' and the closest I can get is AMNG 419. If someone were to confirm this, that would be great.
