I'm going to house that my parents own this weekend
to try my luck it hasn't been occupied in about 20 years
and it was built in the late 30's what the land was used
for before that I don't know but my question is
that the dirt there is rock hard and even in the winter
after maybe 2 inches it just as solid I was wondering
how deep would you estimate a coin lost in 40's would possibly be

That question has no real answer sorry. It depends on weather conditions moisture content and believe it or not the fauna in the area.
Coins lost a few years ago can be found deep down and those that have been lost decades ago can be found near the surface.
With your ACE 150 you are slightly handicapped with the lack of a proper notch filter. Start in areas that are more likely to have regular traffic. Around the mail box is a very good start as people used to leave change for postage in their mail boxes. the work you way along the driveway if any.
If there was an outhouse the check the path going to it. the same with any workshops or sheds there may have been.
try to remember where you used to play and where your parents used to sit in th yard. Hope this helps a bit..

i just wanted to add that the ground is primarily
made up of clay and there are no animals bigger than
a cat or two no live stock at all and never was and
my mother said that there was nothing there before
the house was built but there is a large section of gold dredger piles less than a half mile from there so it is
possible that there was some kind of camp near it but according to her the ground has never been plowed ,tilled ,or graded and it has never flooded ( at least since they have owned it)
(20 years)

If the ground is mainly clay I doubt you are looking at objects going to much depth unless they have been purposely placed in a hole. The exception may be a flower bed area or vegetable patch where the ground has been turned over.
