It's a Greaser. I do not see a DDO.

If it were a DDO, the other devices on the date would have been affected.

Mike Diamond offered an explanation; something about the impacted grease falling out and coins an image of itself somewhat adjacent to the device it fell out of? We've seen this type of error before and because the other devices display traditional Greaser attributes, I'm thinking that's what we have here.

Does anyone remember what Mike said?

All the date digits have this anomoly on the left side of the these devices. The 7 is blocked out with a Grease Fill on the last digit.

It's a case of grease-mold doubling. This is the first I've seen for 1997. Previous dates include 1995 (the most common date), 1998, and 1999. I've written about this phenomenon twice in Coin World. Here's a short treatment: http://www.error-ref.com/grease-mold-doubling/

By the way, if you have little interest in the coin, I'd be interested in adding it to my collection.
