I am wanting to have a couple of coins graded but am unsure as to which company to choose. Does any one company hold more credibility than the others? I know there are good and bad in all, but would like advice?
Thanks

I would recommend either PCGS or NGC. However if you want to grade and then sell, PCGS usually sells for more.

If there is any possibility that your coins have "problems" (cleaned, damaged, etc.), ANACS might be a better choice. PCGS and NGC are companies with the best reputation, but will send back cleaned or damaged coins ungraded in a "bodybag." ANACS will describe the problem and assign a grade.

PCGS and NGC are the "first tier" of coin graders.
ANACS and ICG (and, in my opinion, PCI, though ebay does not agree) are the "second tier."
Dozens of other companies make up the "third tier."

PCGS and NGC have membership requirements for submission- ~$100/year I believe and both include some free gradings and other schwag. If you are an ANA member, you will automatically have direct submission privileges for NGC since it is the "official" grading service of the ANA. Also, PCGS will bodybag problem coins and NGC will only slab a problem coin if it is submitted through its sister service NCS(Numismatic Conservation Services). ANACS and ICG both have direct submissions. ICG will not grade problem coins but they will credit the grading fee(less $5) toward a future submission if a coin has problems. ANACS will grade and slab problem coins with a details grade. They used to list a net grade on the slab too but I am unsure if they still do this or not. PCI has a pretty good variety attribution service and is usually reasonably accurate on vintage coin grading but their modern grading tends to be liberal and that opinion drags down their resale prices across the board.

I agree with what everyone is saying here. First of all, what coins do you want to slab? Have any pictures? Some of the coins that you want to slab might not even be worth it, so I would recommend for you to look into that first.
