Oh my god! ebay now allows sellers to bid on their own items! How can they let this happen? I know all of this because when I checked my listing, it gave me the option to bid, and I did, and it worked. How can they allow this?!?

If that's true, then that's unbelievable! Can anyone else verify it? If this is true, then this will be detrimental to ebay. I don't think a lot of people would trust it.

A lot of major Auction houses allow sellers to place a buy back bid Its just something you need to factor in when bidding on an Item.
I know how much I want to pay for an item at an Auction and thats what I bid. The seller normally has to place a buy back bid at the beginning of an auction. If ebay is allowing sellers to bid on their own auctions it does not really impact on my particular practices as I never get into a biding war on ebay. There will always be another chance..

When ebay first started out, it was permitted to bid on your own auctions. It is absolutely not allowed now. If the software allowed you to place a bid, it was a glitch in the program. This is not surprising since they're making a lot of changes right now.

I strongly suggest that you retract your bid (if you haven't already). If someone sees it and reports it to ebay, I believe it will be considered shilling and you could get suspended for it.

I do think that the ability to bid on your own auctions should be reported to the technical support division of ebay.

Cody I'm confused.

I just went through the four listings running and there are no bids or bid retractions. You have no listings in the last 30 days other than those 4 and your bid history shows no bid retractions ever.

Rest assured I can't believe ebay would ever allow this on purpose. They would lose most of the buyers immediately. Heck, there lowering fees now to try and get sellers back, they wouldn't want to anger buyers now.
