In this situation, the best thing to do is put your coin on the table or surface you are taking the photo on, and place several cents around it. 5 should, normal colored cents, different tones. That way we can see the difference in color. Here is an example :

Interesting question, did you find this in a costumer wrapped roll or did you find this in a mint roll?

The coin was found in a tip jar it was mistaken for a dime that's when I noticed that Lincoln isn't on the dime and I took a closer look. Is there any specialists in Southern California that could take a look? It seems as if this is something someone needs to see in person since I'm not familiar enough to with coins to distinguish it.

Your local coin shops, are obvious, when it comes to variety coins. (Error coins). This is the best place for identifying errors. We just need the right photos, and we can diagnose your coin for you. We have the best error experts here. Your coin is most likely an unplated coin error, but to confirm it. A clear picture like above would be perfect. Front and back of the coin.
