Silver peaked at $14.20 tonight it has backed off some to $14.09 as I post this. If it keeps pace with Gold and Oil I suspect it won't be long before we see it at $15 Is anyone here still buying or are you all waiting to sell?

It's about time silver is moving up. With the way gold has been going I'm surprised silver has gone over $15 yet.

Like I have said so many times before what keeps the silver prices down is all the people that bought silver years ago before it tanked and everytime it hits the 15.00 mark they unload stock piles of silver making it drop back down rather quickly. Maybe this time we will see it finally overcome the roadblock because these people can't still have that much silver they bought at 15.00 an ounce years ago and held onto it too long expecting it to go higher than it actually did. I would like to see it hit 20.00 an ounce but to tell the truth I haven't actually bought any silver for an investment since silver was right at 7.00 an ounce and sold allot of that when it hit close to the 15.00 mark the last time

I've been watching the pricing on and off for that past month or two and it hasn't fluctuated more than a dollar, I think. I've also been watching some ebay auctions as well as looking at flea markets for junk silver but haven't purchased any yet. According to what amac44 says, this sounds like the worst time to try and buy and I should wait until after the holidays. At flea markets there is no chance (in my brief experience, yet) to purchase it under spot value. I tried to pick up a bunch of War Nickels but the guy wanted $1 each. I said no thanks as that's about $.25 more than they're each worth. I probably should have tried to haggle with him more but I doubt I could get him down to $.65-$.70 a piece. Any tips from you silver investors/experts on how I can find cheaper prices?

The last time I bought silver rounds or eagles spot was around 10 or 11 dollars. I don't plan on buying or selling anytime soon.

I bought a bunch when it was around $8.50. If it goes up to $15 I might have to think about selling some.

Yes, but the dollar was not so far deep in the toilet last year or the year before. Nor was there a credit crunch, mortgage collapse, or housing bust.

Not that I think we ill see $20.00 silver this year (though we might next year) I think this year's gains are far from over.

Gold closed at it's highest level since 1980($783.50)! Silver has a long way to go to hit that $50.00 an ounce that the Hunt brothers helped drive it up to back then. Mike

I'm holding out. I think once the world realizes what a financial genius Ben Bernanke really is commoditie prices will collapse and the stock market will go to 45,000 perhaps even by the end of this year. Just my humble opinion of course.

How about them Dolfins? Go 'fins go!

I think we are lucky if silver tops $16.00 by the end of the year. Gold by far has been a better investment.

I don't think I'm going to buy anymore for now. I have a Franklin Mint set of proof medals that I'm thinking of selling, I wonder if I could get bullion for them?

Actually, I think silver has risen a couple of bucks in the last month or two, hasn't it?

I remember reading somewhere that China has a large cache of silver and that due to tax laws there it's not worth selling on the open market till around $14 an ounce so supposedly there is hesitation to drive prices higher as they would release more supply than demand into the market.

Not sure how true it was but it sounded reasonable
