Sheepy,

I am not familiar whit grading the large cents but I will say that I would be happy to have this one in my collection. Very nice coin! I am interested to see what the consensus on this one is. I have made a guess to myself.

That's a nice looking coin, I'd go AU. It looks like there is a little wear on the curls above the shoulder & ear, & also on the coronet above the L in Liberty. I'm a little suspicious of the color, possibly dipped & retoned?

The details on this coin are definitely AU55 in my opinion. I agree that the color is suspicious. If you look at the reverse, you can see the difference in the field and in the devices of ONE CENT. It has a cleaned appearance, though I don't think it was harsh. I don't think the coin has necessarily been artificially retoned. I think the color difference is the copper reacting with whatever cleaning agent was used.

My only concern is what appears to be the area of light corrosion on the reverse. In my own album I would call it net XF-45 details/light corrosion/possible cleaning.
