Hi

I am a little confused on this one.
vertical rectangular (sunken) hollow in the field
not a part of the raised area(stem)but just under it.
nothing unusual on the obv. Have a few clashed lincolns
but they are all raised areas not sunken. Also, anthing unusual
about the 7 position in date

It is tough to tell from the picture. I can't guess at this point.

Thanks,
Bill

Still a little confused if a clash ?
being my theory anyway (please correct if incorrect:)
that the depression would of had to been caused when the planchet
was made and not during the strike ? being as it is under the branch
of the stem area and that area is not affected. No obv. irregularities
at all. I know the pics. are not real clear but you can put a drop of water in the depression. I am not exactly sure what is involved with the struck through process on the other hand. Mind explaning it to me?
never saw a cent with a depression like that below the relief and in such close proximity to it also.
I am posting another question about the 47 and 47ML.
