I notice that certain "brands" of silver bars sell for more. I was sitting duck on ebay looking at some and saw an APMEX 10 ounce bar go for $170 plus $15 shipping and at the same time I saw a APM 10 ounze bar go for $152 with $10 shipping. Is there a specific reason some brands go for much more than others despite both being .999 silver?

Sleak,

Was this a one-time event or have you seen a trend? If there is a trend, it may just boil down to confidence in the manufacturer's name. I haven't seen it with bars, but with rounds not all manufacturers put a full oz. of silver in their rounds. I found out the hard way when the bargain rounds weighed out at .92 oz. Now I would only by Engelhard or Sunshine mining. With both of these, buyers pay without scaling.

I've seen it constantly happening for sometime now. Out of curiosity I may pick up a bar of each and weigh them to see if there are any weight differences Yeah with rounds I agree. I picked up some no name ones and weight less than the ounce.
