Well, I am curious to know how many of our member completed their Lincoln Cents Album? Because I am starting to work on my.... starting to save for the key and semi-key dates.... still a long way to go. Did you included Proofs? What is your average grade range? (ie: VF/EF for the teens, twenties, and thirties; EF/AU for forties and fifties, MS for all latter dates) Did you included varieties (DDO, RPM, DDR....etc? If so, which one?Are there any conditional rarities? If so, which date/mint mark?Which is/are your favorite coin(s) of the series and why? Edited by SA4H 11/05/2007 2:31 pm

I haven't completed my Lincoln Cent album yet, but I do have GEM BU for all of the Lincoln Memorial, and just ciruculated cents for the wheats. No I didn't include proofs but maybe i'll add them in later. -Ben

I'm almost done (moneywise). I'm missing the Keys: 1909 S VDB, 1914 D, 1922 Plain, all of which I'm not in the market for presently. I am still missing the following (which I am in the market for): 1909 S & 1931 S. My Dansco has Proof holes for 1968 S & onward. I have all these Proofs included in my collection. The only ones missing are 1970 S Small Date, 1979 S Type 2, 2007 S. The 1943 PDS & everything from 1954 through 2007 are all GEM BU. No varieties included, although I would like to get the DDO 1955, 1972, 1995. One of my favorites was thrown in as a bonus by the seller I purchased the Proofs from: a 1964 Proof.

So far 10 Completed in Whitman Classic Albums. However, I cheated on the last 2 by eliminating all the wierd stuff. By that I mean sets #9 and #10 do not have 22Plain, 55Double Die, 72 Double, 70S Sml and Large, etc. Also, no proofs at all. No slots for them either since I made these two Albums from scratch. I used blank pages and used the Whitman Gold type press on numbers. Each set is progressively in a higher grade from #1 to #10 due to each time I acquire a coin it goes into a set where the new coin is of a higher grade pushing coins from one set to the next. A few years ago I started #11 but gave it away.

AHHHH....I love Lincoln topics! LOL EDIT - You may have seen my post here, but I have every biz strike made....forgot to tell you that. **Did you included Proofs? Yes, I'm collecting the proofs. I give on the matte proofs though, just far too expensive for me. I'm shooting for 1936 up only. I have all of them except: 1936, 1937, 1941, 1951, and 1970 Small. I'm not concerned with the clear S 81, no S 1990...to me those are like errors and do not definate a complete collection. ** What is your average grade range? (ie: VF/EF for the teens, twenties, and thirties; EF/AU for forties and fifties, MS for all latter dates) My teens avg: AU50 My 20's avg: AU55 The rest: BU MS60 and up (except my 31S is F15) **Did you included varieties (DDO, RPM, DDR....etc? If so, which one? Some, I have the 1995 DDO and some other error coins like BIE and off-center strikes. I also have the 22 plain. ** Are there any conditional rarities? If so, which date/mint mark? I have quite a few, but not graded (other than by me). My favorite is my 1939D which is at minimum MS66. I posted pics of it here. I have a whole page dedicated to errors and another dedicated to toned examples....like my electric blue 59. ** Which is/are your favorite coin(s) of the series and why? I have a particular fondness of the 1930-1940's series because they made some really, really nice coins in those years. The color and the strikes are fantastic IMO. My BU's in that range are very enjoyable to look at under magnification....if you're a coin geek. LOL I'm probably twisted, but every once in a while I pull some out, open the 2x2 up and look at them for the hundredth time in-hand because I find them so beautiful. Thanks for the post! It's great!

Closest I have come to finishing is 1909-2007 missing only 1909-s, 1909-s vdb, 1914-d, 1922-p, and 1931-s. I had everything from 1934-2007 Gem BU full reds, all proofs from 1955 to 2006 except for the 1960 small date proog, 1970-s small date proof, and the 1981 ty 2 proof. I had the 1960 sm date and the 1970-s sm date in just regular gem bu. Also had all of the P mints from 1917-1930 gem bu and the 1930-d, 1930-s, 1932 bu R/B. All the semi keys were at least full wheat lines on the reverse. There was nothing in the entire set that was below VF. Only took 2 months to put together and I ended up selling it on ebay for just under a $1,000. That is what started me out on my business of buying and selling on ebay actually. But I will always wish I could get that set back, it was a very nice one. Maybe one day I will be able to get one put together again with proofs all the way back to 1936 tho and BU's back to 1930 plus all the 4 big key dates and if I am lucky the 1922-p! But that will prolly take 10 years or more . Steve

Just Carl: No wonder the prices are so high. You keep on pulling the Keys out of availability, making them more scarce & driving the prices up. Just joking, partially.

I am not nearly done with the cents. Missing most are the teens a few 20's couple of 30's, 60P sm date, 70S sm date, 79S type II and S mints 70's - 90's.
Most are from circulation. Grading not important as long as the dates are readable is all that matters to me right now. I just want to be able to say "My cent album is complete"
Once the album is completed and up-to-date maybe I'll upgrade. If not I'll still be happy with my accomplishment.

My grandfather had a full set of lincolns from 1909-1958 in a framed display for many years now and promised it to me in his inheritance. Although he died 15 years ago, my grandmother held onto it until just this weekend when she passed away.
Unfortunately, one of my distant young nephews said, 'ooh, that's cool, can I have it' and she gave it away to him last week... :(

Just Carl, may be if you can liquidate a few of your sets on this forum, what kind of stir/excitement will that make for everyone in here? I would but it's so much trouble packing it all, going to the post office, filling out forms, and then walking the entire 4 blocks back home right past several bars. My big problem is as I put a coin in an album and move the one from there to the next one and the next one, etc. eventually the coins from the last album go into 2x2's. Nine of those double row, foot or so long red ones sold at coin shows. Then there are those people that give me more albums free so I just have to fill them. Now well over 100 Whitman Classic Albums. A dealer at most coin shows I go to recently gave me over 40 of them. He said he will bring another box full at the next coin show. If he does, back to the duplicates for filling albums. Just don't know what to do with all this STUFF. I'm old so soon enough it will all be someone else's problem.
